Early Orthodontic Treatment -- When To Start Orthodontics For Kids
When To Start
There are many potential benefits of orthodontic treatment at Lazzara Orthodontics.
Although Dr. Lazzara can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. At this early age, orthodontic treatment usually isn’t necessary, but a thorough examination can identify the best time to officially begin treatment. Lazzara Orthodontics has many years of experience in getting young patients started with early orthodontic treatment!
What Are the Benefits of An Early Orthodontic Evaluation?
With an early evaluation, Dr. Lazzara can for look any developing problems, then come up with solutions to prevent extensive treatment in the future.
In cases like crossbites, where early intervention is necessary, the treatment will be designed to guide growth and development, which prevents more serious problems later. On the other hand, if orthodontic intervention is not necessary, Dr. Lazzara will carefully monitor your child’s growth and development so that they can begin treatment at the right time.
Best of all, our pre-orthodontic screening and monitoring appointments are provided as a courtesy to you and our referring doctors, and they are typically free!
